Beat holiday stress before it starts
We are just a few weeks away from Light Up Louisville, or any of the other smaller celebrations in surrounding suburbs and for several religions and belief systems, there are holidays coming that leave us on an emotional high, but can also lead to crushing lows. You can keep the blues away before they overwhelm you, even if up until now, the coming season has usually been bad for you.

Start with frequent affirmations. These should be daily positive thoughts. Turn negative thoughts around by listening to what's going on in your head and reversing them. If the depressing thought that plays itself over and over is that your house is too messy to have company over, turn it into the thought that you're happy to be cleaning the house so that your company can have a good time. Be grateful for what you already have. We're in a go-go-go society, always striving to achieve or acquire more. Take a few seconds to feel thankful for what is already yours. After all, you worked hard to get what you have. Enjoy it

Take action. When you are busy, you are far less likely to simmer in negative thoughts. Volunteer to help others to double the impact. Not only do you keep negative thoughts away, but you gain goodwill feelings by making yourself an important part of the community.
