Even after all this time

The sun never says to the earth

"You owe Me."

Look what happens

With a love like that,

It lights the

whole sky.

- Hafiz

Without our sun there would be no life upon our planet. We owe our lives literally to our sun whose radiant energy allows plants to grow. Plants provide food for us and other creatures, recycle nutrients, and release oxygen into the air. It's amazing to think about.

Like everything else in the natural world there is a balance through which the continuance of life is made possible. There are no arguments or hurt feelings regarding who does most of the work or who is more important. The moon is not jealous of the sun. Plants don't hurl insults at one another over who is the most useful. Grasses don't insist on zebra saying 'thank you' each time they graze.

In the natural world, we humans are the only ones with gross inferiority issues. We must be thanked and appreciated as often as possible. We must stand out and be praised otherwise... otherwise what? Otherwise we may not be worth a darn. We may be worthless, we may be losers. We might not be truly loved by anyone.

Deep down inside we're afraid. Afraid some of the bad things said about us (by parents, teachers, the church, society) might be true. But nothing could be further from the truth. You are worth something, you do count, you are valuable, and you are loved. You are a child of the most High with angelic cheerleaders always by your side.

You see, when we live from fear, our love (for ourselves, for others, for our work) gets pushed by the wayside and as so many people share these same fears the result is that someone always has their feelings hurt or feels not quite good enough. But when we live from a place of love, we don't need to be praised or thanked. Our self-worth isn't reliant upon what others may or may not think. It's only important what our Higher selves think and know to be true. Love is about giving. It's the ultimate give-away. Like our beautiful sun, no-one owes us. We give our love away because that's who we really are and genuine love can't be contained.

Although our sun shines light upon our world, our planet reflects some of this light back as do the other planets and moons of our solar system. Hmmm. Perhaps there is something else for us to think about here. Perhaps it's impossible to give love completely away without at least some of it returning to us.

Peace to all
