We share our earth with millions of plants, all remarkable in their own way. In some parts of our world such as desert areas plants tend to spread out. For them, that's the best way to acquire the limited resources of a harsh environment. In other parts of the world such as tropical regions, plants crowd around one another in kind of botanical 'dance' trying to get enough light and water to survive. Wherever you live, you'll see the native plants of your area (as well as non-natives) all reaching for what they require to survive another day, another month, another year. Plants know they need light, minerals and water. Both above ground and below ground, plants reach for what they need. Plants don't simply hang around 'la-dee-da' as if they have all the time in the world to take care of what's important.

Homo sapiens, that's us, forget what's important for growth, for our inner spiritual survival. We act as though we had all the time in the world. We don't realize that tomorrow is not promised to any of us. Life can be short. We all know of someone who passed away far too young - some just babies. We all know beloved elderly individuals who lived good and long lives yet we still wanted to squeeze more years out of them. We forget how precious life is no matter how crappy we feel our day may be, no matter how much traffic we have to wade through, no matter how much financial struggle we have. Life is always precious.

Developing a close friendship with our Creator, the 'Spirit-who-moves-through-all-things', is the light for our soul. It's the light upon the path we now walk. Sometimes we must walk through storms and at other times sunny days. Either way, our special spiritual friendship will light our way and shine in our hearts. As plants daily reach for what they need to grow, so too must we reach for our 'light.' This inner light, our relationship with the Most High loving Being is as crucial for us as water and sunlight is for vegetation.

It matters not who you are or where you are from or what religion you subscribe to or whether no formal religion at all - there is Someone who loves you. That relationship will bring you growth, heal wounds and give you peace.

Peace to all
