If you're a student of nature, you often come across a plant or animal that simply defies explanation. The narwhal is one such creature. Narwhals look like the marine version of a unicorn. They're a type of whale that has an incredible 7 - 10 ft. spiral tusk extending from their upper left jaw. Actually its only the males that have the tusk but sometimes females have them as well. The narwhal's appearance is truly stunning. How does this animal go about its daily activities with this huge task? Its amazing really. Although no-one knows exactly why male narwhals have their fascinating tusks, biologists believe the tusk may help determine social rank.

There are so many living things upon our planet that are new to each of us and many discovered to be new to all of us. Our earth is an amazing place. If we each live to be 100, we will never see everything there is to see or learn all the things there are to learn.

How can any of us ever be bored or unenthusiastic? Don't live your days as though you were dead already. Wake up and truly live! Be amazed! Be fascinated! If you've misplaced your sense of wonder please find it again. Remember how wonderful and new the world was when you were a child. Fall in love again with our earth. Just as you're breathing air right now so are the narwhals up in the Arctic. How cool is that?
