Chevrolet Malibu, Bringing America Back
Usually when people mention buying American cars it’s taken as a joke. The 90s weren't a good look for our domestic automakers with cars like the spaceship-like Taurus and quality deprived Cavalier it was hard not to overlook them when buying a new car. The foreign makes, mainly Japanese, offered cars that surpassed most domestic models in quality and style for a good period of time. Well times have changed; the domestic makes are coming out with models people might actually like. Like this new (kind of "fresh" I might add) Chevy Malibu.
The Chevy Malibu is actually a throwback, once a very popular model for the make in the 70s it was discontinued then returned in the late 90s as their bread and butter mid-size sedan. The name was cool but the sedan they gave it to lack the character and presence the original had. Now in its 3rd generation since the name has been re-introduced and it seems like they finally got it right. The Malibu is a pretty nice looking car with the quality to match. Styling wise the Malibu definitely has some character. It has a good mix of sophistication and throwback American styling that will make heads turn. Under the hood there is a choice of a 4 cylinder, 4 cylinder Hybrid, and a powerful V6. Chevy did a good job with the packaging of this car and it might be the one to bring American cars back and make them relevant to shoppers in the mid-size family sedan segment again.
