Former Murray State and Southeast Missouri basketball coach Scott Edgar is appealing his show cause order with the NCAA. Edgar has hired attorney Don Jackson of Montgomery, Alabama to appeal the ruling, which requires an NCAA institution to "show cause" before hiring Edgar through the next three years. The order basically keeps Edgar out of NCAA basketball. Edgar told the Sporting News that his goal to to clear his name and "do what I believe that I'm called by my Lord and Savior to do."
Two Kentucky high school quarterbacks are on Murray State's radar, according to Rivals.com.
Nick West, a 6-3, 195 pound dual-threat QB from Hebron, is fourth in 6A in passing, averaging 217 yards per game at Conner High School. Last month he was 14-of-16 with five TD's against Covington Holmes. He threw for 30 touchdowns as a junior. West has drawn interest from UK, IU, UofL and Cincinnati and a number of MAC schools.
Closer to home Cory Cooper has led Allen County Scottsville to a 10-0 mark in 4A and rushed for 821 yards eight touchdowns and thrown for nine TD passes. Cooper also draws interest from Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State and Wofford.
Tennessee State was the first OVC basketball team to hit the hardwood, downing Trevecca on Tuesday at the Gentry Center. Newcomers Josh Sain (21 points) and Jacquan Nobles (20) lead the way. Tonight Eastern Illinois and Morehead State each have exhibition contest.

The Racer soccer team will open OVC Tournament play Thursday in Morehead. The No. 3 seed Racers take on Eastern Kentucky, while volleyball travels to UT-Martin. Murray State men's golf wrapped up their fall season with a third-place finish at Stetson.
