According to a still-unfolding Associated Press report, country singer Ferlin Husky has been hospitalized at The Summit Medical Center in Hermitage.

Per AP, a "very weak" Husky was admitted to the critical care unit of the facility on Thursday, July 2, because the musician was suffering from an accelerated heart rate and possibly pneumonia.

Tracy Pitcox, president of Heart of Texas Records and a designated spokesman for the 83-year old singer, has said that Husky was being treating him for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and related-medical tests were scheduled throughout the weekend.

A native of Missouri, Husky experience crossover success on the charts in his heyday. Among his biggest singles are the former No. 1 songs "Gone," "Wings Of A Dove" and "A Dear John Letter," the latter of which was a duet with country-singer Jean Shepard.

He's scored many more hits, however, such as the top-10 country singles "I Feel Better All Over (More Than Anywhere's Else)," "A Fallen Star," "Just For You," "Little Tom" and "Forgive Me John," a No. 4 that was also a duet with Shephard.

Meanwhile, another country great, Ray Price, has successfully undergone surgery to remove polyps removed from his colon after a colonoscopy indicated the classic-country crooner had numerous polyps in the pre-cancerous stage. Presently, Price--who was in Nashville just a few months ago to pay tribute to Hank Sr.--is recuperating from  the surgery at his Fort Worth, Texas-area home.

Moreover, from all indications, the entertainer, who also achieved crossover success with his country sound, is expected to return to his normal routine and touring schedule in only a few  weeks, which is undoubtedly great news for fans of the singer, whose best-loved classics include "For the Good Times," "Heartaches By the Number," "Night Life," "I Won't Mention It Again," "City Lights," "Release Me," "Make The World Go Away" and "Crazy Arms," among many others.
