Platinum-selling Jason Aldean, whose career is clearly on a "to-the-next-level" move, has joined forces with globally known pop-rock megastar Bryan Adams to create the latest episode of CMT Crossroads, a program that brings musicians from differing genres together on the concert stage.
Aldean's shared-stage performance with Adams will premiere this week on the CMT cable network at 8 p.m. (CDT) on Friday, June 26, for those interested in seeing the artists team to perform one another's hits.
Now touring in support of his Wide Open CD and new single, the fast-rising "Big Green Tractor," Aldean--for his part--was honored to be tapped for the hourlong Crossroads segment.
"To be on stage singing with someone I've looked up to musically my entire life is hard to describe. I keep thinking, did this really happen?" Aldean says. "(Adams) has so many great songs, and it was truly hard to narrow them down to what we did for the show. I hope I did them justice."
The Associated Press, in its review of the show, wrote that there's "a sense of drama and dynamics in how Aldean sings," while CMT.com proclaimed, "Aldean has a powerful set of pipes."
With the recent TV-concert episode, Adams and Aldean have gained entry into an elite group of performers who have taped CMT Crossroads, which pairs country music stars with popular artists from other genres--pop, rock, R&B--to play together, swap stories and share their common love of music.
Prior segments of the show have included Lindsey Buckingham and Little Big Town; Bon Jovi and Sugarland; John Fogerty and Keith Urban; Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire; Joss Stone and LeAnn Rimes; Robert Plant and Alison Krauss; and Def Leppard and Taylor Swift.
