Nuremberg, Germany -- In a fight that was difficult to score, David Haye defeated Nicolay Valuev by majority decision to become the 7th British heavyweight title holder.

The fight consisted of David Haye moving around the perimeter of the ring and attacking Valuev very infrequently, but landing the cleaner shots during the course of the fight.  Valuev plodded around the ring, chasing the faster Haye and landing very few punches.

During the final round, Haye landed a speedy left hook that sent the seven foot giant reeling along the ropes, before composing himself to finish the fight.

The final cards were 114-114, 116-112, 116-112.

Haye captured the WBA heavyweight title and  improved to 23 wins and one loss.  Valuev's record stands at 50 wins two losses.
