For several months the gambling line to Manny Pacquiao's battle with Miguel Cotto had the Filipino star as more than a two to one favorite with most sports books carrying the action.
That was clearly a function of Pacquiao's immense talent combined with his ever-growing popularity and wild winning streak highlighted by victories against mega-ticket seller Oscar De La Hoya, British rock and sock icon Ricky Hatton, and Mexican technician Juan Manuel Marquez.
Intoxicating feelings of invulnerability clouded the betting minds of many players, as money kept coming in on the Pacman to wallup the fighting pride of Caguas, Puerto Rico.
Now at 8:40 P.M. Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, four days before their Saturday night encounter at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, Cotto money has started to roll in and the line has shifted to make Cotto a little shy of a two to one underdog at +190.
This movement towards Cotto comes even with reports that he looked weight-drained and feeble during his arrival to the MGM Grand this afternoon.
Reality might be setting in, Miguel Cotto is a legitimate welterweight with the talent and experience to derail the Pacquiao express into an early political career in his homeland of the Philippines.
