The heated battle to stop slots in Maryland is not over in one corner of Anne Arundel County. I received the following email the other day:

"You have previously shown your opposition to slots in Maryland by supporting Stop Slots Maryland, and we thank you for your efforts. We need you to get back into the fight and help Stop Slots at Arundel Mills to prevent the largest proposed site for a slots casino in the state at Arundel Mills from receiving zoning permission from Anne Arundel County . Proponents of slots like Senate President Mike Miller stated that such a casino would not be in neighborhoods, or where children could see it. Arundel Mills, a self described ‘family friendly’ destination is exactly not what Mr. Miller promised. This scenario is why the legislature insisted that local planning and zoning be allowed to control where or if a slots casino should be built. You can find more information at:

We need you to take action! Please come out to the July 6^th Anne Arundel County Council hearing on Bill 40-09 in Annapolis at 7:00p.m. and wear red. If you can not make it out to the meeting please contact the Anne Arundel County Council via phone or email and ask them to kill bill 40-09 on July 6^th.
