WMAR Channel 2 has announced that in September they are bringing back a Richard Sher hosted version of the classic Baltimore political TV show Square Off. I am quite excited about this. Some of you probably remember that over a year ago I wrote about Square Off and my desire to see it return to the airways. At the time I thought WJZ 13 would be interested. I also suggested that I should be a guest on the new show. I stand by that thought and I hope the producers read this blog and consider my credentials. Jill Carter would make another great guest.
Below is an excerpt from my 6-15-2008 article that explains what Square Off was:
"For those of you who have never heard of it, "Square Off" used to be a political debate show in the 1980s hosted and moderated by Richard Sher on 13 at 7:00 or 7:30 on Saturday nights. There were always four political type guests sitting around a table with Sher at the top of the table. He used to bang a gavel a lot to calm the people down. I was just a little kid at the time, but the arguments were very entertaining to watch. I think the time has come to bring back this classic. I hope Richard or a person at 13 is reading this. There clearly are a lot of local political issues and happenings that people want to hear more about."
