A lot of media outlets have started to cover this story again in the last 24 hours. Here are some links to the stories:
This story is dominating Baltimore related blogs and message boards! I decided that we needed to hear more from our public officials so I sent out the following emails:

Leaders of Baltimore,
Every election year I know you get all sorts of surveys from all sorts of unions and other groups that you have to answer. You always answer the questions very carefully in order not to alienate potential voters. Well
this is not an election year so you probably have some extra time to answer
my quick survey. I do not represent a powerful union or lobbying group, I represent the voiceless and frustrated of Baltimore. I am just an "Examiner" for Examiner.com.

I want to know if you support the firing of Margaret Burns after the comments she made about Zach Sowers and after taking in to consideration the clear public outrage that has been demonstrated through the media and Internet these last few days. It is a simple yes or no question. Your colleague Jim Kraft has already gone on record with his support for the dismissal of Burns by Jessamy and I can tell you that the public is quite interested in your opinion also. I will publish your thoughts on my blog. Since all of you are tax payer paid public servants the public deserves to know your opinion on this crucial issue. Silence will only hurt you and it will be remembered by many. Do you think that in any other situation a public servant could get away with the outrageous comments that Ms. Burns made?
I have NO DOUBT that your reply (or lack of reply) will be remembered in 2011. I can assure you this is not like 99.9% of the pre-election year issues that happen to disappear in an election year. Despite the wishes of some unnamed leaders the name of Zach Sowers is not going away.
I have already sent a similar email to about 200 employees in the office of
the Baltimore State's Attorney. The public is demanding that Ms. Jessamy speak on this issue and I hope you can encourage her to stop hiding in her office. She is making all of you look very bad.
I have included some pertinent links below my signature just in case you are not familiar with this situation. In the last 24 hours the Daily Record, WMAR, WBFF, WBAL radio, and the Baltimore Sun have joined me in covering this issue. I look forward to hearing from you. I will maintain a chart on my blog showing who has replied and who has not.
Regards,
Adam Meister"
I am sure our public officials would like to hear from you also so feel free to send emails to all of the email addresses listed above.
Here is another one that I sent out to about 200 employees in the office of the Baltimore State's Attorney.
"Looking for Comments about the Margaret Burns Situation

This email is being sent out to about 200 employees in the office of
the Baltimore State's Attorney. I am what they call an examiner for
Examiner.com and I want to know your opinions on the Margaret Burns
situation. Feel free to email me from your personal email account if
you have to. I have included some pertinent links below my signature.
If any of you could encourage State's Attorney Patricia Jessamy to
give a statement about this issue it would be helpful. Is any one in
your office concerned about the impact of this situation on the
reputation of your office? The refusal to comment seems to only add
fuel to the fire and anger more citizens of Baltimore on a daily basis.
It appears that your office thinks this situation will go away if you
do not address it but in the last 24 hours the Daily Record, WMAR,
WBFF, WBAL radio, and the Baltimore Sun have joined me in covering this
issue. Councilman Kraft has gone on record as a supporter of the
dismissal of Ms. Burns and this further reinforces the image of you
going against the will of the citizens of Baltimore (the same people
you are supposed to represent). This could soon turn in to a political
nightmare if your office and leader continue to maintain a stubborn
silence. I look forward to hearing from you.

Adam Meister"
Keep checking back here for updates throughout the day. I believe Anna will announce plans for a weekend supportive gathering at some point today.
