I stumbled upon this opinion piece by Barry Rascovar at Gazette.Net. He talks about what role race and party affiliation have in the DIxon investigation and the events surrounding it. I encourage all of you to read it and draw your own conclusions.
Maryland State Senate Majority Leader Nathaniel McFadden has an interesting quote that defends Dixon in the article. It made me wonder about what makes a public official so quick to attack an investigation. In a case like this I always check campaign contributors right away. When I checked up on Senator McFadden the first thing I noticed on the first page of contributions was that just this year he took $1000 from bail bond companies. The City Paper just ran an interesting piece about the influential and not very regulated bails bonds industry in Baltimore. What does it say about our state when the senate majority leader takes money from companies like these?
