More Bond Bill Funding Controversy- Nathaniel McFadden

August 26, 5:32 PM

Yesterday I wrote about a general assembly bond bill sponsored by Senator Catherine Pugh. Today I will analyze a bond bill sponsored by Senator Nathaniel McFadden.

Senator McFadden sponsored a bond bill for the Mary Harvin Transformation Center. I looked up the center on the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation web site and the resident agent is listed as Donte L. Hickman. The address listed is 1701 North Chester Street. The center was awarded $150,000.

I did some research in to Donte Hickman and I found out a lot. Mr. Hickman is a reverend at Southern Baptist Church which is located at 1701 North Chester Street.  He was accused of mishandling over a million dollars in church funds in 2006 according to this article. Governor O'Malley (while he was Mayor) appointed Hickman to serve on the Housing Authority of Baltimore City's Board of Commissioners in 2005.  He still serves on that board today.  Mr. Hickman donated $1000 to Senator McFadden's campaign account on 1/11/2007 according to the campaign finance database.
