Dixon News And A 4-Day Work Week Proposal

July 16, 9:40 PM

I have always enjoyed reading articles by Van Smith of the City Paper.  This week he wrote an interesting piece about a meeting Mayor Dixon apparently had at the Double T Diner in Catonsville last year.  She met with some noteworthy characters there.

Councilwoman Belinda Conaway of Baltimore's seventh district is planning to introduce a resolution calling for a four-day work week for some city employees.  This was something that I suggested in a past entry

It is interesting to note that in the Belinda Conaway article there is a quote from Glenn Middleton the president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 44.  AFSCME is a powerful union that politicians from all over the Baltimore area love to suck up to.  In 2007 when there was an opening on City Council in the 6th district, the council unanimously selected Middleton's wife (Sharon Green Middleton) to fill the vacancy.  She is still the councilwoman for the 6th.
