TRAC gets aggressive

November 8, 10:52 AM

TRAC (the Transit Riders Action Council of Metropolitan Baltimore) placed a provocative ad that I really like in the City Paper this week. The City Paper also published two stories about the Red Line in the same edition.

The ad is on page 27 of the paper and among others statements it says:

"Did you know the MTA refused to study building a REAL METRO for the Red Line transit project?!"

"If we are going to build a Red Line, let's do it RIGHT."

It encourages everyone to visit StudySubwayForTheRedline.com to sign a petition and to attend one of the public hearings for the Red Line's draft environmental impact statement.  The hearings will take place on 11-12 at the UAW Hall at 1010 Oldham street and on 11-13 at Woodlawn High School.  Both hearings are from 4PM to 9PM.

As I have said many times before, the Red Line needs to be heavy rail (AKA subway). As TRAC says we don't need "railroad tracks on Edmondson Ave or Boston St."

October 16, 9:17 AM
Since I live in the 11th district I receive an email newsletter from my councilman Bill Cole. Unlike some public officials who go on vacations to Egypt, Cole's trip did give him insight in to some of Baltimore's problems. Portland is basically a clean ... Read More

The Charles Street Trolley Is A Bad Idea

August 17, 12:11 PM
The Charles Street Development Corporation has been promoting a Charles Street trolley for the past few years. You can view the official idea here. The city (AKA the tax payer) is already contributing $620,000 toward a two-year study of the proposed... Read More

Big Mistake May Delay Red Line

June 4, 11:55 PM
It looks like there was a "bureaucratic snafu" that will cost the state $3 million.  That money was supposed to go to the preliminary design of the proposed Red Line.  The MTA has yet to file a report with the Federal Transit Administration... Read More

The Red Line Needs To Be Heavy Rail

May 8, 11:56 PM
The Mayor's Red Line Summit is on Saturday.  This will be another opportunity for political leaders and government workers to trick citizens in to thinking that light rail or bus rapid transit are the best options for the proposed Red line. ... Read More
