Moms versus dads…who does more housework; who spends more time with the kids; who sleeps less…it’s a constant battle in most households. Whether moms and dads are working inside or outside of the home, we keep a mental tally of who put in the most effort at home.
But the Austin Stay At Home Dads Club has taken it one step further by challenging the MOMS Club of Austin to a Food Drive Throw Down. Between now and November 13, 2009 both clubs are collecting food and monetary donations to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank.
Members of the MOMS Club can bring donations to any MOMS Club event. Non-members can make donations directly at the Capital Area Food Bank in the MOMS Club name.
Moms – this is our call to action! Let’s show these dads that they picked the wrong group to challenge.
Collect Healthy Non-Perishable Food:
• Canned vegetables & fruits
• Canned soups & stews
• Peanut butter & jams (plastic containers)
• Cereal
• Rice & pasta
• Dry food mixes
• Monetary donations
Look Outside of Your Own Pantry
While it’s great to collect from your own household, you can collect more by holding a simple food drive. Try going house-to-house in your neighborhood or setting up a donation drop off location. It’s important to be clear to donors about the goal of the food drive, make giving easy and accessible, and thank donors.
Let Your Children Help
Be sure to involve your children in the collection process. Not only will they be helping but they’ll be learning an important lesson in giving to our community.
Remember moms, the deadline for the Food Drive Throw Down is November 13th. So spread the word to your friends and let’s show these dads who they are messing with.
