Sens hit the road versus Emery, and the Flyers tomorrow

The Senators will square off against their former netminder, Ray Emery for the first time Thursday

Fresh off a shootout win over Edmonton last night, the Senators will leave the friendly confines of Scotiabank place, as they closed out a four game homestand, during which they went 2-2. Tomorrow night's game (7:00pm ET; TSN TV; Team 1200 Radio) will see them square off with a red hot Flyers team, who have won four straight, dating back to Halloween. The Flyers will also be well rested, as they haven't played since beating St. Louis at home in a shootout last Saturday.

The Senators will look to string together a second straight win; something they now haven't done in almost a month. If they can do so, they can leapfrog the Flyers in the Eastern Conference standings, as Philadelphia (9-4-1) comes into the game only a point ahead of Ottawa (8-5-2).

Thursday's game represents the first meeting between the Senators, and their maligned former goaltender, Ray Emery. Emery is off to a great start for the Flyers, with a 9-3-1 record, and a 2.27 goals against average. Emery played goal for the Senators on their run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007, but as a result of his play, and detrimental off-ice conduct was bought out of his contract by the Senators after the following season, and was forced out of the city, the NHL, and even the continent; receiving no interest from NHL teams, and spending last season in Russia - reportedly playing well, and mostly cleaning up his act off the ice.

The Flyers' injury report suggests they may have a depleted lineup that could spell opportunity on the road for the Senators. Oft-injured star, Simon Gagne is on Injured Reserve with a groin injury that will keep him out for 6-8 weeks, while defenseman Ryan Parent has missed three straight games, also with a groin injury; rookie forward, James Van Riemsdyk has gotten off to a great start this year, but is questionable with what may be a broken finger, after he was hit with a shot in saturday's game. Daniel Briere also is considered questionable as a result of the rash of groin injuries to hit the Flyers' lineup, and has missed four straight games.
