“Voices Against Violence” is an organization in Plymouth, New Hampshire that is decided on eradicating the unhealthy relationships that would form and then become cycles of abuse for victims of domestic violence and abuse. As stated in their mission statement, their goal “is to break the cycle of violence by providing comprehensive services for all victims and survivors and by creating social change through education and action.” They serve 18 towns in lower Grafton, which are Alexandria, Ashland, Bridgewater, Bristol, Campton, Dorchester, Ellsworth, Groton, Hebron, Holderness, Lincoln, Plymouth, Rumney, Thornton, Warren, Waterville Valley, Wentworth, and Woodstock. All of their services are free and confidential. They also have a toll-free 24-hour crisis line that is available (877-221-6176.). They have a small staff of four, but determined women, and one of their goals is to seek appeals in each town in the Grafton county area for funding to help out this outstanding organization. Confidentiality needs repeating. These services are absolutely and most assuredly confidential.
Along with information and support, they provide police accompaniment that can be a real asset when confronting volatile situations that could occur with domestic violence issues. They also offer court advocacy when obtaining protective orders, stalking petitions and also some much sought after emotional support as well from a trained advocate during court proceedings. Another guise of domestic violence is sexual assault. They also provide a sexual assault support system that would offer confidential and compassionate accompaniment to a hospital for examinations for instance.
Another service offered is systems advocacy, which offers help with any systems, whether it be in the form of prosecutors, attorneys, probation and parole officers, or even child care providers. Emergency shelter is especially unique in that the victims are offered a temporary safe haven should they fear for their safety.
They also offer education and outreach which consists of, but is not limited to raising awareness, sexual violence, stalking, media awareness, healthy relationships, sexual harassment, bullying, dating violence, and conflict resolution.
