

Peshawar, Pakistan – Mounting violence in Pakistan has claimed the lives of 35 people including three women and three children when a suicide car bomb exploded near a market in Charsadda, a city near Peshawar, Pakistan.
Today’s violence marks the third bombing in three days and was reported to have caused panic among the vendors and shoppers who were present at the market.
The Associated Press reported the blast damaged shops, vehicles and electricity cables, causing power failures in the area that hampering the rescue work of about 100 people who were wounded, some seriously.
Police are reporting 90 pounds of explosives were planted in a van parked near an intersection.
District police officer, Riaz Khan, said preliminary evidence points to a suicide attack since body parts and sneakers of the suspect were recovered from the site.
The stepped up attacks on civilians police officers say it is an attempt to shake the government as the Pakistani army presses an offensive against Taliban militants.
While no one has claimed responsibility for today’s attack, the government and police believe there is no doubt that the Taliban is to blame.
