Over the weekend, a 26 year-old-woman who had been drinking and was smoking on a Boston subway platform lost her balance and fell onto the train track as a train is coming toward her. People on the platform waived frantically to the train operator who pulled the emergency brake immediately after her supervisor called the train. The train stopped half way over the woman’s body, but she was able to pull herself out from under it.
The train operator said she was able to see passengers on the platform waving their arms at her to stop and received a phone call from her supervisor and she pulled the brake. Charice Lewis, the train operator and her supervisor, Jacqueline Osorio were given medals yesterday and hailed as heroes at a ceremony for their quick reaction to the situation.
The women who fell was suffered some scrapes to the knees and was taken to the hospital for evaluation, but was released. The story made national news and the video has become an internet sensation this morning. Scroll down to see the video.
