That's right, the first Tuesday of November is upon us and we are forced to drag ourselves out of our post-Halloween stupor after work and vote! Well, not really. Probably not many people here in Marin will vote. Here in the San Geronimo Valley, we have the option of voting for members of the Marin Community College and Lagunitas School District Governing Boards. More important for the day-to-day functioning of our local elementary and middle school is Measure A-- a $325 per year parcel tax, with certain adjustments and exemptions. This isn't new; It's actually a renewal of the current tax. Local funds account for 15% of the budget, so the renewal of this tax is vital, especially as our lovely state government is strapped for cash. So if you live here and want kids to have, you know, desks to sit at and pencils to write with, you might want to vote for this tax.

Elsewhere, big things are on the table: gay semi-marriage in Washington and Governor's races in New Jersey and Virginia. One can only hope that Washingtonians will be more sensible than Californians were with Prop 8. Here's Stephen Colbert's own endorsement of sorts of Washington state's Referendum 71... plus a bit more.

So take a couple minutes tomorrow, fill in a few bubbles and be figuratively heard.
