First a quick update on the Payvment Facebook application, which I wrote about last week here. One of my two little complaints was that I'd had a hard time finding my way back inside the application when I wanted to return to work--well, just tonight I noticed a button at the top of Payvment's backend on Facebook asking if you'd like to bookmark it.  I did so and I now I have a convenient little button to access my Storefront at the bottom of my screen inside my Facebook toolbar!

While I'm not (yet?) seeing my individual Payvment/Facebook items showing up in a Google Search, I really feel that the long term value of this application is going to come from inside Facebook itself.  For example, typically only approximately 10% of my eBay sales come through Google while approximately 70% occur in instances through eBay.com itself.  The Payvment app on Facebook includes a search module for both your own shop and for all shops on Facebook--that last bit, the sitewide search, is the one which gives Payvment an incredible amount of potential and expands it's universe well beyond your own friends or fans.

Speaking of search, the low cost eCommerce Storefront BuyItSellIt (BISI) has upgraded their search mechanism.  It will now call back different tenses of a verb or both the singular and plural forms of a noun and has added a suggestion tool which looks very useful for misspellings!  In the example given in the annoucement a shopper incorrectly typing "Charley Brown" would be asked "Did you mean: Charlie Brown."

Here are some other items reported about around the eCommerce blogosphere which really struck a chord with me, the info could be helpful to you as well:

  • Over the weekend TheBrewsNews reported in detail about the new automated e-mails eBay is sending out to your buyers, noting that there's really not too much you can do about it.
  • Our friend Auctionwally, the National Antiques and Auctions Examiner, reports on AuctionBytes new press release service.  It looks like a great option for online sellers!  Previously I've used News-antique.com, another excellent service which is worth checking out if you're looking for options.
  • This one just went up over at John Lawson's ColderICE blog which I sometimes contribute to--Amazon is offering shipping credits to Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) sellers shipping them product.  The rebate is tiered on a basis of how many units are shipped to their fulfillment centers kicking in at 50 units.
  • And if times are a little tough for you and you need a little inspiration John's posted an excellent video on his site recently as well, Going from Broke to Self-Made? Never Go Back! which is well-worth a watch!
