This weekend, November 13-15, is the Great Wine Escape Weekend for Monterey wineries. This is a great opportunity to sample the many fine wines and fine restaurants of Monterey County.

Some of the events planned for this weekend include:

Friday, November 13
Coastal Kitchen Seminars
The Intercontinental: The Clement Hotel in Monterey
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Executive Chef Jerry Regester of the Clement and Executive Chef Jeffery Jake of Carneros Inn in Napa take you on a discovery tour of sensory secrets behind building a dish that brings out the best of your favorite wine. Then participate in a wine pairing battle between these two chefs to see who does the best wine pairing. And finish off with a three course meal while being entertained by an on-stage demonstration with the chefs and Executive Chef of Food Network, Robert Bleifer!

Wine Maker Dinners
7:00 p.m.

Share the hospitality of various fine restaurants as local winemakers’ pair their wines with the fine cuisine of Monterey area chefs. A great evening of excellent wine, good food and fantastic conversation!


Saturday, November 14
Tour the Monterey Wine Trails in Carmel and Salinas Valley
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Choose either a self guided tour or a hosted winery and vineyard tour of either Carmel Valley or Salinas Valley. You will sample some fine wines plus educational seminars by the winemakers and barrel tastings!

Educational Tour Experience
Winemaker for a Day
9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Visit Paraiso Vineyards for an opportunity to spend the day with winemaker David Fleming and be the winemaker for the day experimenting with varietals and match David’s winning blends!

Wine Enthusiast Signature Winemaker Dinner
Intercontinental: The Clemet Hotel Monterey
7:00 p.m.

Share an exquisite dinner with the Monterey County Wine Founding Fathers and experience the hospitality of Executive Chefs. Steve Heimoff, West Coast Editor of Wine Enthusiasts Magazine will guide you through the moment of perfection and a glimpse of history.

Winemaker Dinners
7:00 p.m.

Share the hospitality of various fine restaurants as local winemakers’ pair their wines with the fine cuisine of Monterey area chefs. A great evening of excellent wine, good food and fantastic conversation!

Sunday, November 15
The Great Wine Escape Finale
Intercontinental: The Clement Hotel Monterey
12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Wrap up your weekend at The Clement where Monterey brings to you all the best in Monterey County Wines and Cuisine. Relax in this light filled space with ocean vies while you sip limited production, reserve and acclaimed wines and participate in interactive chef demonstrations that take place throughout the afternoon.
