My education column today in the DC Examiner is on the monsters teachers become in May during standardized test time. In my case, it's the Advanced Placement test in my course that looms in a little over a week. My teaching partner, Eliot Waxman, is preparing our students for the AP government test a week from today. Nearly every member of the Oakton High School English, math, social studies, and science departments is preparing students for the Virginia Standards of Learning tests. We are judged on our students' performance, as is the school as a whole. No pressure!
