Transmission, by Hari Kunzru, was published in 2004 and is for those interested in the way the tech revolution has shaped our lives. The hero experiences the fantasies of living the Silicon Valley life as a Microsoft employee, followed by the humiliation of having a computer virus--of his making--destroy whole companies. The ending verges on the surreal, but the characters are very real. Kunzru has written only two novels, and has the makings of a great novelist.
