With Obama's big win in North Carolina, and the very close numbers in Indiana, I think my students were right last October when they said Obama will be the Democratic nominee. (Actually, they said "Hillary is Toast.") Of course, a senior class of 500 in one town in Virginia is hardly a representative sample of the population, but so few were in Clinton's camp, and so many in Obama's--I really felt the writing was on the wall. Quite a few are for McCain, so it will be an interesting election! Last fall it was a pleasure to see my students interested in the election. Nearly all who were eligible voted in the primary, and they are psyched for the coming months. I have never seen high school students so excited over a presidential election!
