Very few people use temp agencies these days but they are a great source for employment information. Some people don't even know that you can find permanent jobs through a temp agency. They not only have lists of companies looking for loyal employees but, continually have new companies calling in. Temp agencies require you to test on software like Microsoft Word and Excel and then match your skills with a company who needs someone like you.

There are a few setbacks to using a temp agency. The agency is being paid by the company to find employees so no matter how nice they are to you, they're always biased toward the company you work for. If you have a problem with your employer, do not run to the temp agency unless you are seriously ready to quit that job. They are required to share all of your information with potential employers.

However, a temp agency is a great resource for finding companies in need of employees. They do not only list clerical positions, but that is the bulk of their repertoire. It never hurts to just call them or send in your resume. They make their money by finding you a job whether permenant or temporary so they're going to do their best to get you paid.
