Blue Sky Energy Drink

Ah Blue sky, how I want to like you. I always see you with that hippie look starting out glazedly from the shelves, beckoning me to sit back, toke up, and down one of your super healthy energy drinks. I want to lose myself in your granola filled goodness. But then the reality hits me. I stop and read your ingredients list and beverage contents - and then I get me health ire all irked up at you and I stay frustrated for a good year or two until I forget that you are not health or good for you and I again get attracted to your shiny soda cans.

OK - gotta say, healthy and Natural does not equal tons of crappy High Fructose Corn Syrup! The FDA does not take into account anything Natural, so any company can stick it on their foods and say it like it is good for you. "Its Crack! made from all-natural Mountain grown Poppy Seeds, Picked by mother fracking Juan Valdez! Hand Crafted by our Time tested artisans from across the globe!" Shame on you Blue Sky. Even the generic natural Wild Oats brand knows better than to add this to their pop and call it a healthy drink.

Ok... done ranting now. But you can see my hopes for this drink were not spectacular. And this is from Hansen too - same ones who should know better - after successes with Monster, joker , ace, Lost and even their own Hansen Energy drink.

Buzz/nutrition:6
Taurine, Panax Ginseng, B Vitamins, L-Carnatine, Caffeine, Inositol, Glucuronalactone, and Maltodextrin. How much who knows? not anyone I read. SO it has tons of HFCS, packing in a whopping 110 calories . And for almost no buzz either. Glad it has my daily intake of cocaine cutting agent ( inositol) though. Dont these people realize that Not listing amounts is not helping their product, and in fact could be doing damage. I know that blue energy is high in calories and carbs, but have no clue if there is anything good for me in it - and I certainly dont trust their can marketing to tell me the truth about it.

I felt completely kickless after drinking this - which was a real shame. I desperately needed the jolt today, and felt lethargic missing it.

Packaging: 4
Might be improved, but still silly. Whats with the poorly printed lightning and crappy munged up text? Either their makers are poor can makers, or the quality of the design is failing because the text is barely readable. Not listing any nutritive amount , but hiding it under the "proprietary blend" category does not help. And sorrhy - it is the art director in me... FINISH FILLING IN THE GODDANG BLUE in the letters. plain can shows right through the spaces in the E's and such. Yes, it was like that in the first round of cans you made, but it WAS A MISTAKE there too! Fix it on round three - this is a flaw, not a feature.

Taste:5
red bull with a bit more sour. Not bad, but not worth the carbs, calories and mystery ingredient list.

Web Site:6 - http://drinkbluesky.com/ -:
boring plain dull ( yes, I know those are all 3 words that mean the same thing) site, with no mention of different ingredients. Of all the companies to crap out with a boring run of the mill flash site, looking like a leftover template from a wordpress blog. The buddy group built this sad thing, a group of very talented individuals who have done everything from NBC to Old Navy to Jakers. Probably this was a 2 day job left over that they had to rush to production. Everything about it speaks template design - and is definitely not a portfolio piece from what could be a very talented bunch of designers.
