Boo Koo Dangerine provides health, protein and a dose of energy
POSTED July 23, 10:32 AM
Boo Koo has hit another homerun with this Burner flavor. Just the right mix of raspberry flavor with a blend of tangerine help this functional energy drink become one of the best flavors in their line. Boo Koo has recently struck a deal to get these in a thousand stores across the nation, and will hopefully save this brand and this fabulous drink will be around for a long time. Mainlime was good, and Pummelgranite was very good, but the mix of the whey protein, energy drink mix and tartness work to create an original flavor that picks you up, fills you up and gets you what you need as a post workout treat. If you are in the market for a great drink for after the gym, this will be a great choice.

Nutrition:8
Like pummelgranite and Main Lime, dangerine has 160 mg of caffeine, taurine, ginseng, and B vitamins. The whopping 20mg of protein comes from whey ( which is nice), and there is some vitamin C and calcium in here too. While the caffeine is not over the top it is enough to balance with the protein for a sustained amount of energy. The 90 calories in the entire can feel like full calories, opposed to empty calories, and are completely justified in a drink as functional as this one.

Taste:9
Dangerine is a taste which can not be compared to any other energy drinks out there. This is probably going to be the only non-carbonated drink in the convenience store shelves - and while the taste certainly is not for everyone, I appreciate the courage this company has to come up with a flavor that is anything but a clone - like comparing a corona to a P.I.N.K. caffeinated vodka. They might both be found in the same stores as one another, but their reason for being is very different. The people who will like Boo Koo Burners are not the same as ones who grab a Monster before heading off for the day. Boo Koo did a fantasticly well with this flavor, blending sweet, tart and thick texture - more like a 2% milk. I thought I found a winner with pummelgranite, but this one tops not only their other flavors, but beats many workout drink bottles out there too.

Packaging:8
Like the other flavors, this one is exactly the same except for the logo in dark fiery orange on white. The logo and name are a fantastic departure from the regular Boo Koo brand - appealing more to people who appreciate some health with their energy drinks. Your average teen is not going to grab this, but this design seems to work better with those people for whom this drink was intended. Hopefully, there will be enough marketing around the drink to carry off the cool factor.

The slogan, “It’s full of Ludicrous amounts of power, chocked full of protein for pumpification and it taste great. It’s twice your recommended daily dose of awesome, fortified with 100% jack-you-up. So drink up and go hard” works really well, even in the big puffy font they wrote with. I really like that they simplified their font choices, using the same ones for the name, brand, slogan, and pretty much everywhere text is used. IT keeps things very clean and unified. My only letdown was the missing caffeine information. The package would have gotten higher marks if they did not leave this off.

Website:6 bookooburner.com
Clean and unique, with well written code. The flash works, and displays some ingenuity for being a very simple flash site. You have a choice of the 3 products, and really all don't give you any information a just link to their shopping cart - which look completely different than the burner site. I wanted so much more than the little dippy paragraph on "what protein does for you" and a link tot he shopping cart.
This site looks great - and you could tell lots of thought and design went into the site. But without having ANY new information or reason to go there this is just an empty shell of a site. The overall theme is beautiful - but I would definitely go through this again and give the people who really want the lowdown on these drinks what they want. They also could not carry through the rest of their site, where they send you to buy their product. For all the effort to get you to buy their product online, you would have thought that that part of their site should have been updated to the new look and feel as well. Looks great, Works nicely, but poor follow-through.
