With the promise of an Extreme Energy 6-hour Shot, so extreme as to be self proclaimed "World's most extreme energy shot", that is a title that is hard to earn. Especially for what looks to be a flaming version of a 5 Hour energy shot, there was not a whole lot to look excited about. After forcing the liquid into my resistant stomach, I was impressed with the results. While I am still not sure how EXTREME it is, the buzz I got was worth the extremely noxious taste it left in my mouth.
Packaging:5
My problem with this package is all the "Extreme" fakiness the package uses. At least they don't spell this Xtreme. Still, this thing is covered in lightning bolts, flames, and 5 different fonts just to spell out the name and slogan. This has a very standard 5 hour energy shot bottle in a new wrap. If it were not for the massive boost, I doubt this would be able to stand up against the encroaching hordes of energy shots lining the convenience store counters across the US.
The good of the package is that it lists all the caffeine in the bottle, as well as all the other ingredients (they are super tiny. but pretty readable). All other info, including company info and website are printed and are very easily made out.
Taste:3
Once breaking the tamper resistant seal, this shot looks and smells like another 5 hour energy clone. it comes out in a bright pinkish red.
like 5 hour, this stuff has to get choked down - really not pleasant. You get the green tea chalkiness mixed with the bitterness of fake berries. Add to that the unpleasant aftertaste you get with sucralose with a little pepper and other bad tasting ingredients. I have had energy shot that taste great, and some that taste decent. This revolting 2 ounce shot tastes just good enough to force down and enjoy the effects.
Nutrition/Buzz: 9
What this does ave is an impressive energy blend powering it. The Extreme 6 hour shot has a strong dose of 220mg caffeine. For a small shot, that is quite a dose - and does the job quickly and effectively. There was a wicked buzz inside here, enough to knock the sleepy out of you and keep you buzzing for a good solid 3-4 or so hours. While not the most extreme energy shot, there are not many with over 200mg of caffeine. I had this at my most sleepy moment in the late afternoon, and it helped me get through the more gruelling parts of the evening without me even starting to yawn.
The caffeine dose is supplemented with black pepper, the amino acid blend for focus and green tea and Goji extracts for both antioxidant and other health properties. You can also find in here the usual overdose of B vitamins, 1600mg of taurine and glucurolactone - rounding out an impressive list of nutrients to get you pumped and ready to move.
