Guru has recently expanded it's line to 6 different flavors of energy drinks - all are not quite up to the diet guru awesomeness, but still so much better and healthier than the usual energy drink selection found at your local convenience stores.  This variety of energy juice is super strong and super juicy, reminding me of a Juvex nectar drink found in the Hispanic foods aisle. Very sticky and sweet. Tasted the orange, lemon and cane juices, felt like I was healthier for drinking it. But was I? This a ton of calories and only 20% juice, and even the all natural organic aspect does not make this drink one to be guzzled on a regular basis.

There are a ton of these energy juices on the market right now, from Rockstar Juiced to Monster Khaos.  While few are organic, things like rumba are 100% juice, not just 20% with filler.  While I appreciate the effort, this drink will have to taste absolutely fantastic to compete with the others out there.

Taste:5
This does not taste bad - it just tastes the same as their rest of the energy juices.  Unfortunately, this is really nothing special.  fter all, what is the real difference between this product and the 100 other energy juices out there? From the company who uses stevia to sweeten their diet energy drink I expect better than a boring juice flavor no different than all the others.  On just taste alone, I would say this is pretty average.  Problem is this company is not average - it is more disappointing when the company can do SO much more. It is like Tim Burton directing a buddy cop movie or something where the lead characters are  kids and pet monkeys.  Why waste such talent?

Buzz:6
Each can has 260 calories, 64 grams sugar, and 2 grams protein. That is a lot of calories for a 16oz energy drink. and even though that is on par for energy juices, I still wish it could not be a meal in of itself. There were some nice ingredients in here, including  panax ginseng, ginkgo biloba and echinacea.  In terms of caffeine, there was a very standard 160mg - the same amount found in everything from Monster Khaos and Rockstar Juiced.   I am not sure if i got a buzz from this - but it did keep me moving.  There was a bit of a crash from this after all the sugars left me - but not as bad as I was expecting.    Overall, this drink is OK on this front too.  Maybe I am expecting too much from this company - but after seeing what they can do - these seem to be balow what they could do here.

Packaging:9
WOW!  Like most of Guru's line, one of the things that set their drinks apart is the fantastic design of the cans. The bright yellow gradating to orange in dots looks very bright and dramatic - and the color is dark enough to really get the text to stand out. Guru has chosen a fantastic design, while still incorporating the organic branding.   This can is truly a fantastic work of art.  really - spread out i could easily see this ending up next to a Kandinski.  The logo and the nutritional content is easy to find, as well as company information.  IF you are a can collector - this is one to find.  While it works functionally, listing all the stuff like nutrition and website, it is definitely the best designed of ALL of their cans. The colors and the fonts work well, and get across the product idea - and make this something you want to hold.  I would and have bought this again strictly because I am a sucker for packaging.  Even though a Rumba is healthier and has more of a kick, and Kaboom is better for me, this can is still rockin!

Web Site: http://www.guruenergy.us- 7
Their new website is an ineresting mix of working elements and big missteps by a company trying hard to capture the "urban" feel.  They now have cute 20ish kids talking about how much they love guru.  Problem is the video is horrible - just a bunch of testamonials filled with bad lighting while they drone on about their facebook friends.  And there is no stopping them.  No matter what links you click on - the video will keep going, with nary a pause button in sight.  Once you look at other clips they give you a stop button, but from the first page you just have to sit tight while a guy talks about going down on his girlfriend drinking a guru .... Not to mention, the flash movie does not have a loader so it skips and freezes.  the overall look and scheme is very nice - but can be confusing.  To get more information on the drink's properties you have to click on some mysterious badges that most people would not have any clue were even links.  The rest of the site is nice - with the blog tool helping get across that this is a company with hip urban attitude, and the shopping cart is nice and well designed. The rest of the flash movies are small and work well enough - and the code is pretty clean  - but that main video definitely needs to go.  Or at least be able to stop.
