Think Gum has a very interesting idea, linking taste memory recall with brain boosting herbs to try to help alertness and the ability to improve memory. The product is created by a Stanford University medical student, flavored and scented with rosemary, peppermint and other memory enhancing herbs and herbal extracts. By chewing a piece while studying, and another while trying to remember that memory, the chewer is supposed to be able to bring up that memory quicker and easier, using the flavor of gum to trigger bring back what you studied.
A big Kudos to the developer of Think Gum, who developed this while going for his bioscience Ph.D. He graduated Phi beta Kappa and Magna cum Laude from U.C. Berkeley in 2006 with a degree in molecular and cellular biology. This guy looks like a real genius, but still is producing this gum in his room and finding a way to produce a couple hundred thousand units and run a business.n Nice thing about this gum is not only is it selling very well, but it is a great product with decent packaging. This is definitely not an amatuer affair, but a professional product that could and does compete with the big boys.
Taste:8
The gum has a very strong herbal flavor, to strong for some of the people I gave to sample. It definitely tasted of rosemary, as well as the other herbs. I really liked the flavor, which was unusual for caffeinated gums. It is very easy to chew for the first couple minutes, while the sweetness still very strong. It does have a very unique tang to it however, which you would need to get this to work correctly. Not only does it need to taste good, but it needs to taste unique, so the piece after you study will remind you.
I have had quite a few caffeinated gums while writing these reviews, and most have been horrible disasters, giving you a big dose of caffeine while tasting like overripe lemons and dog hair. This one actually lasted in my mouth for a long time, not feeling the need to spit it out after a couple seconds. That does not mean this is a stick of Juicy Fruit though. My taste testers described it as a very earthy taste, much like Valeria Roots. While not necessarity a gum you would choose just for the taste, you can deal with the strangeness if it works for you. I found the originality of the flavor interesting enough that I could definitely see chewing this gum instead of all the others I have reviewed.
Nutrition/Buzz:9
Packed in here are six mood and mind enhancing herbs: Vinpocetine, Bacopa, Ginkgo Biloba, Guarana, Rosemary, and Peppermint. The gum also contains 20 mg of natural caffeine per serving (2 pieces). “All six herbal additives work together to improve cognitive function. You are supposed to chew the gum for 15 minutes while “studying or learning new information.” The 20mg of caffeine is not spectacular, but the point of the caffeine is to act as a helper to the other herbs, not necessarily to keep you alert during that all night cram session.
In terms of sweetness, there is a great mix of sorbitol, sucralose, maltitol and xylitol. All those ingredients make the sweet last a good couple minutes before dissolving. While this gum only gave me a mild buzz when I ate a good 7-8 pieces in a row,

clean and easy - very simple to read and get. Instructions are very clear, one while studying, one for recall. Very nice designs, with good use of color. I wish there was a listing of the quantity of ingredients - but the website listed everything I wanted to know ( the website was handily listed on the pack, as well as phone and address. While things are pretty similar for all gums, I have seen companies screw it up, trying to be clever or cut corners. This one did great with a clear design and nice layout.
