Adina Double Xxpresso has better charge but less flavor

November 20, 10:13 AM
by Big Red Boots, Caffeine Examiner

Of all the flavors of the new Adina Energy drink I received, this looked to be one of the most exciting. Not only would this be the most straight-on coffee flavor, but this drink has supposedly more caffeine than the other coffee energy drinks they produce. It turns out that this was not as good as the other flavors I tried, as the coffee tasted more watery and less substantial. Like their other flavors, Adina energy coffees feature all Fair-Trade ingredients, helping poorer countries to be more self-sustainable. It is good for your body, using a cold filtered process to give you lots of healthy ingredients. Of all of the new coffee drinks, this one looks most like a coffee drink should look, arriving in a dark brown package with a logo that would appeal directly to those shoppers at health food stores who would ever think about buying a coffee drink. While certainly not competing with Rockstar, Monster or Full Throttle coffees, Adina provides a decent alternative for those trying to shop healthy and responsibly, and still get your morning kick cold and easy to transport.

Nutrition/Buzz:10
This is a real double espresso's amount of caffeine giving you a double shot's worth of buzz in a small cold can. This is still completely organic and has up to to 4 fruit servings of antioxidants from the coffee bean itself. They don't use guarana in this version, going straight for the coffee to give give the 150mg caffeine boost. The milk in here also provides some nutrition, with 4 grams of protein, and a little (2 grams) fat. The buzz is very strong with this drink too
- as it kept the late night sleep withdrawal headache away long enough ( about 4 hours) for me to enjoy the rest of my evening.

Taste:7
Unfortunately, I thought this straight out coffee would be sweeter and richer, because the coffee from the other flavor I tried was so strong. Alas, this tasted weak and watery, not the rich strong coffee flavor I really wanted. This is certainly better tasting than many I have tried in the past, but I was expecting something more bold and rich - something more akin to the fair trade organic brew I drink every day - rather than this light flavor.

Packaging:7
Like the other flavors, they don't list the caffeine content, which is a misstep for their brand - as that is a really nice standout from the other coffee drinks out there. This can is probably the most straightforward, giving the consumer exactly what they would expect - a nice exotic coffee drink that looks like a hybrid coffee + energy. The brown on bare aluminum still looks pretty high end, and the printing job is very nice as well. You could tell time and care was put into how this product was going to be displayed, and the market it is trying to appeal to. While not innovative, this is a very nice and clean package.

Website:8
This is a decent enough website, giving all the information you need with only a little fuss. The UI works, although I wonder about putting their products in little stamps and promotional blocks, rather than emphasizing the menu. Still, it is a pretty impressive design, using navmenu as a software too for their dropdown menus, and keeping their images small and download friendly.
There is more information than you could want to read on every coffee energy drink they make, from a comparison chart to an explanation of what fair-trade means. This is not a bad thing, as I wold always like to have too much information on a drink and their company than too little. I might not head to here just for fun, this site is much more than just a business card, but a very professional and clean mix of photoshop skillz and decent HTML code.
