US Army single mom update #1

The article on Army Specialist four Hutchinson seemed to attract considerable attention and comments. It seems as though the jury is overwhelming against Special Hutchinson and her refusal to deploy. It seems as though her reason has numerous holes due to additional evidence received via comment postings. With the comments received it seems as though evidence points toward her unwillingness to deploy has nothing to do with the care of her 10 month old son. Rather all indications is a matter of backbone as opposed to mother's instincts. Early indications reveal that the US Army is not the villain in this case. It is easy to blame the Army for lack of empathy and compassion but as we will discover the Army's family care plan is not broken and isn't the cause of this soldier's reluctance to deploy.

Thus far 100% of the comments have gone against Specialist Hutchinson. During the first 24 hours of publishing the article and asking for feed back, the response has been surprising, not one comment supporting Specialist Hutchinson was received. The comments received came from very credible and reliable readers. Below is a sample.

Pete, a 22 year Veteran of the Army said ". A maneuver unit like hers will know they are on deck at least a year in advance. As for the Family Care Plan system being broken, I don't think so. It is very unusual for a Soldier to have to deploy at the drop of a dime!"

Teo a commander in the US Army said " She should have been separated for not completing her FCP. As Pete says, the problem is not that the FCP program is broken. I believe it is a lack of enforcement by the chain of command, and as the FCP counseling states, she is subject to separation should the plan not be completed within the allotted time."

The one comment that really shoots Hutchinson in the foot is from her son's father. Previously, according to Hutchinson her son's father and his family was out of the picture. That statement indicated that was how the father wanted it. Originally you felt compassion for her and the situation. It appeared that Hutchinson was caught in a personal dilemma, the care of her son versus her obligation to deploy.

The most damaging comment came from the father of her son.  He wrote, " I am the father of little Kamani Alexander Hutchinson... Why is no one coming to me with this information??? I have asked SPC Alexis Hutchinson numerous times before she deployed to watch Kamani while she deployed, but because she is upset about the way our relationship ended she has told me over and over to leave her and Kamani alone. Saying that it was only her child now. She had the opportunity from the time she got pregnant to after she gave birth to ETS from the military which on several occasions her and I discussed. She opted against it. I'm upset she's made this big deal about things when she hasn't even tapped all of her resources. I'm not a bad father, don't drink, don't do drugs, don't abuse women or kids etc... she is just upset about our previous relationship, acting immaturely and not wanting me to be around."

Kevin Larson Public Communications officer for Ft. Stewart wrote: "Commanders at Fort Stewart, Georgia, are continuing to review information surrounding the alleged misconduct of Specialist Alexis Hutchinson. SPC Hutchinson's son, Kamani, is safely with his grandmother in California while SPC Hutchinson remains on Hunter Army Airfield at a barracks. The allegations against SPC Hutchinson include alleged violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and, out of consideration for young Kamani and his Soldier-mother, will be handled as expeditiously as possible. In the meantime, SPC Hutchinson's fellow Soldiers have departed for Afghanistan while her deployment is postponed indefinitely pending the due process of this ongoing review."

This is a typical situation that happens when slanting the truth and distorting facts makes for good press. Especially when it involves an underdog like Special Hutchinson. As this story first surfaced most everyone wanted to believe Hutchinson, most couldn't believe that the Army could be so uncaring and insensitive. After real evidence was brought to the table a completely different outlook surfaced. Like many defense attorney's say, let's don't rush to judgment until all the facts are in.

At this point we won't throw Hutchinson under the bus this poinot. However, it doesn't look good, the general public doesn't offer much support. if anyone wants to comment in favor of Hutchinson feel free to post your comment. In a few days an update will be forthcoming.

A special call goes out to the son's father, I would like more from your perspective; if you read this article please contact John Rodda at letfreedomsing@yahoo.com featured Veterans policy examiner, as I would like to get more information from you and tell your side
