A new study in the journal Neurology found children with autism struggle with handwriting skills, NPR reports.
Children with autism in the study had much more difficulty forming letters than the typical children.
The handwriting issue is points to a larger problem with motor skills for children with autism. They can also struggle with buttoning, holding a fork or zipping up jackets.
Researchers say this may provide a way to diagnose autism earlier in life by examining motor skills.
