Two studies found positive results with the use of a prescription drug approved by the FDA to treat heavy metal levels in children with autism. Reuters reports.

The use of oral dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) showed a 10-fold increase in excretion of lead and no impact on kidney or liver function.

Initial results show an increase for children with autism in language, cognition and sociability after taking DMSA.
