I have been debating on whether or not I want to do this and I think I have finally made the decision to move forward with the idea. I am currently managing three fantasy basketball teams – one on ESPN Fantasy Basketball, one on Yahoo Fantasy Basketball, and one on FleaFlicker Fantasy Basketball. I am going to give the readers a breakdown on each one of my teams and the results/standings for each team as we progress throughout the season. Before I begin, three teams may seem like a lot of teams for some – for others maybe not. But I spend on average about 15 minutes per day combined on my teams adjusting lineups, perusing available free agents, etc. I actually spend more time studying box scores than I do making any adjustments with my teams.
ESPN Fantasy Basketball
My team name is Team SBE and the name of the league is the Fantasy Basketball League. It is a league that I created and I serve as the “David Stern” of the league. The league is a rotisserie league with 10 participating teams (including myself). We have 13 roster spots – 10 starters (PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, & 3 utility players) and 3 bench spots. Scoring is computed in 8 different categories – points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, three pointers made, field goal percentage, and free throw percentage. My team consists of the following players:
Rajon Rondo
Jamal Crawford
Danny Granger
Al Harrington
Shaquille O’Neal
Courtney Lee
Paul Pierce
Shawn Marion
Hedo Turkoglu
Andray Blatche
Chris Bosh
Russell Westbrook
Anthony Randolph
I am currently tied for first place and I have one player (Shaquille O’Neal) playing on tonight’s schedule.
Yahoo Fantasy Basketball
My team name in this league is Shore Ballers and I am in a public league which Yahoo automatically put me in. The league is similar to the ESPN league except for a few differences. Instead of 10 teams there are 12 teams, instead of one center and three utility players in the starting lineup there is two centers and two utility players in the starting lineup, and turnovers are also a scoring category. My team consists of the following players:
Brandon Jennings
Jamal Crawford
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Jason Richardson
Rudy Gay
Wilson Chandler
Al Jefferson
Channing Frye
Leandro Barbosa
Ryan Anderson
Brandon Roy
LaMarcus Aldridge
JR Smith
I am currently in fourth place (19 points behind the leader) and I don’t have any players that are playing on tonight’s schedule. I have taken some risks with this team, for example, having JR Smith on the squad while he is serving a seven-game suspension and taking risks on guys like Wilson Chandler, Chris Douglas-Roberts, and Ryan Anderson. Hopefully, some of my gambles pay off and I can move up in the standings as the season progresses.
FleaFlicker Fantasy Basketball
My team name in this league is the Shore Ballers, as well, and I am in Division Two of the Travis League. This league is a head-to-head league with 8 participating teams. I compete head-to-head against another owner on a weekly basis and the scoring is tallied as follows – 1 point for every free throw made, three pointer made, and point scored; 2 points for every rebound, assist, steal, and blocks shot, and -1 point for every 2 turnovers. The owner with the most points at the end of the week receives the victory. Also, each owner has 13 available roster spots, with only 7 starters (PG, SG, SF, PF, C, G, SF/PF/C). Once the starting lineup has been set for the week (Monday-Sunday), no other changes can be made to the lineup throughout the week. My team consists of the following players:
Brandon Jennings
Kobe Bryant
Carmelo Anthony
Channing Frye
Zach Randolph
Brandon Roy
Rudy Gay
Stephen Jackson
Jose Calderon
Manu Ginobili
Jason Richardson
Michael Beasley
Andray Blatche
This team is loaded and I currently have guys that would probably start for other owners like Stephen Jackson and Manu Ginobili on the bench. I am currently 1-0 and as of today I am leading in my current matchup by a score of 601.5-532.5.
I will keep the readers updated on the status of my teams on a weekly basis, as well as, any moves or trades that I decide to make. My goal is to win all three of the leagues that I am in and I plan on taking the readers along for the ride - hopefully, you will enjoy. Feel free to comment, I would love to hear from any one else concerning their thoughts or advice on my teams.
