By now most gun owners know that David Olofson’s appeal was denied.

To refresh your memory, David is the Berlin, Wi resident imprisoned in Sandstone Federal Correctional Institution because of a mal-functioning AR-15. He has been at Sandstone since July last year.

The appeal of his case was heard by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago last January. I was in the courtroom.

David’s fight goes on.  According to David, the next step is a hearing in front of the “whole of the 7th Circuit Appellate Judges.” He tells me Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America “has again stepped forward to take the burden of the massive financial obligation.”

The case will be pursued to the US Supreme court if necessary.

His recent letter also mentioned a neighbor of his in Berlin, WI, whose Glock 19 malfunctioned the same way and reeled of multiple shots. The neighbor was questioned and hi-tailed it out of the Berlin Conservation Club.

This may serve as a warning. Don’t  take your gun to the Berlin Conservation Club!

The doubters in this case accuse David of asking for trouble. They question whether or not the AFT actually planted gun parts in David’s parents garage. I look at a recent unrelated incident here in Madison, WI where the police have been allowed to plant a GPS tracking device on a suspects car without court order.

We are living in a frightening new world. It goes WAY beyond gun rights. It goes on to Constitutional Rights, which is why I’m expanding my attention to be the Milwaukee Libertarian Examiner.
