Jews, self defense and guns
Today’s typical Jewish attitude regarding guns is shameful.
Self-defense is a natural, innate, behavior. ANY means should be on the table.
We Jews are taught saving a life takes precedence over anything. Saving a life is more important than observing any of our holiest of Holidays, yet the more liberal the Jew the less likely he is to accept the use of a gun in self-defense.
This is in direct opposition to our very militant history dating to the times of King David and later, Mattathias Maccabeus. Mattathias and his five sons led a revolt and fought off a Greek army to recapture the temple in 167 BCE (BC).
Israel was won with an army of mismatched weapons and gained statehood in 1948. Today every Israeli Jew, male or female serves in the army after finishing “high school.” Israel has the most complete personal exams for people boarding planes. The Israel Defense Force is everywhere.
The question remains: what happened to the European Jews that made them so reticent when Hitler moved in? I wish I had the answer. It started before Hitler- maybe more so during the Spanish Inquisition?
All I can tell you is that the more Orthodox the Jew the more inclined he/she is to support gun rights. He’s also more inclined to vote conservatively.
As a Jewish mother of five daughters, I’ve wrestled with the argument many times. Now my girls are grown and some live in dangerous cities. Some are here in Wisconsin. It is time they feel comfortable owning and carrying a concealed weapon.
My desire to see a concealed carry law approved here in WI is the motivation for the Empty Holster March/Rally I’m planning for Madison in June.
Yes, I KNOW, Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen has certified that Open Carry is legal in WI. It HAS been for 137 years! But, we’ll be on or around the State Capitol and there is no need appear too “in your face” about our rights.
Just because we’ve been told we can have some cake, doesn’t mean we should devour the whole thing!
