Good question. The answer is probably as diverse as we are.
For some it’s feeling alone in the issue of using a gun for self-defense. Many people are followers. Without good leaders they do nothing. Remember, the mere utterance of the word “gun” brings panic to the masses.
Others are afraid. They are afraid of making waves. This happened to the Jews in late 1930’s Germany. It’s what happens in houses where abuse is common. No one wants to awaken the sleeping giant.
For others it’s trust. I talk to gun show organizers, gun shop owners, gun owners. A common concern is “Who do I trust?” We no longer Know who our friends are.
David Olofson trusted his neighbor when he loaned the AR-15 to him to try out. He was betrayed. Brad Krause had been a “good neighbor” to the neighbor who called the cops.
Why are we tiptoeing?
Some do not want to get involved. They are the watchers, often the complainers. Whatever, they are NOT the leaders. We are lucky if they at least donate money to the much needed finances. Fighting the “antis” is expensive!
It is time we stop tiptoeing. It IS time we act! It has been said that,
“A right not exercised is a right lost.”
No one can do it alone unless he or she is prepared for time before the judge. THAT costs money too.
