The City of Oakland  has passed down an emergency ordinance that will stop the proliferation of nail shops in Oakland. I like many East Bay residents like having multiple options when it comes to Nail Salons and there happen to be three of the Best Nail Shops in California located right here in Oakland:

Cosmo Spa Lounge: A hidden gem of a salon with an intimate appeal and a staff of two very friendly and artistic ladies including owner and Bay Area native Soo. This Salon is great if you want some wonderful free hand watercolor nail art done, but Cosmo Spa Lounge is most famous for its expertise in the Minx manicure. Other services include: Facials, waxing, OPI Gel, Lavish Lash application, and massages.

The Nail Shop: An Oakland staple when you mention the words “the nail shop” everyone knows what you're talking about. The Nail Shop is an almost always busy and bustling nail shop, but the atmosphere is nothing like some of the “hole in the wall” shops that are near the Grand Ave location. This salon is male friendly, and specializes in the classic manicure/pedicure. Other services include: Waxing (ask for Natalie or her aunt Tam), and acrylic fill/full sets.

The Nail Shop has three locations, including 2 in Oakland, one in Emeryville and another in Walnut Creek, there is also a “sister shop” call The Lounge on Grand Ave.

 

Bisou Nail Lounge: Is my newest find and the most original being that it’s an organic nail salon. The quaint shabby chic interior is warm, inviting and relaxing. Bisou Nail Lounge has  a variety of manicure, pedicure options available including one that comes with champagne and another that includes a Chocolate masque. The service that is most unique is the CalGel service performed by the only CalGel certified technician (and trainer) in the Bay Area Keina Kataoka. Other services include: Novalash application, and waxing.
