Taking your child to a kid-friendly cafe or street festival is another way that single parents can connect. Metro Parent magazine and posts a monthly calendar of events all over the Portland/Vancouver area. Cafe Sip-n-Play in Vancouver regularly hosts free movie nights, puppet shows and even has free wi-fi when you just want to watch your child play while cruising the internet.
