In Philomath Oregon, Rosie and Chiquita, are two chihuahua soul mates. Never far from each other's sight, they spend their days barking, playing, and barking. Then one day, their tranquil life in the suburbs was rocked by danger.
It was an evening last week, when Rosie slipped through the dog door for a quick back yard visit. Her terrified barks tore through the night, causing Chiquita to leap into action. There outside on the patio, Rosie lay pinned beneath the paws of a cougar.
Chiquita did what her 14 inches of chihuahua body does best. She barked. And she didn't stop until the cougar released Rosie and dashed back into the woods. Lindsay Wingert, "mom" to both dogs, was filled with relief and admiration for the courage and friendship shown by her dogs.

Rhett (A07570176)
Rhett is a 10-year old Boxer mix who is looking for a quiet home where he can spend his senior years. He’s a nice older gentleman who likes daily strolls and a comfy couch or bed where he can relax. His ideal home wouldn’t have many stairs and would have easy outdoor access so that he can go in and out without too much effort. New places are sometimes a bit scary for Rhett, so he is looking for a patient and loving adopter who will take the time to help him feel comfortable in his new environment.

Buddy
8-year-old
Neutered Male, 10lbs
Mini Pinscher
This good-looking little fellow relocated to Marin with his best mate of 7 years. Buddy came to us from a puppy mill located in the Central Valley through our Pet Partnership Program. Buddy is a little reluctant to meet new people and may play “catch me if you can”. Get down on his level and allow him to approach you and don't be surprised if he jumps into your lap. Buddy has played the field and is ready to settle down. A couple of leisurely strolls around the neighborhood each day would make his day. If you are a small dog person you have to meet this guy. Buddy is in his prime and has a lot more years to share with you.
Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 16 years or older
Holly waiting for a new friend at the Marin Humane Society
Holly
1 1/2-year-old
Spayed Female, 8lbs
Terrier Mix
This very sweet, friendly terrier is ready to learn new things and have a lot of fun with you. Holly starts out a little cautious and shy, but the more gentle attention she gets, the better she likes life and new friends. She is a bit sensitive to loud noises and sudden movement. Her new family should be willing to patiently introduce her to new experiences and meet new people. A soft lap to curl up in will be just as much fun as a ride in the car or a walk in the park.
Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 12 years or older
