Missy Elliott waiting to meet you at the Marin Humane Society

DOGS OF THE WEEK
Marin Humane Society

Missy Elliot
18-month-old
Spayed Female, 61bs
Boxer Mix

Missy Elliot is a young boxer/pit mix who doesn't seem to have had a great deal of experience with the great wide world. We think she may have spent her whole life in a back yard - she isn't very fit for a young dog. It's going to take some time to reveal her full personality. We know that she likes people and doesn't dislike other dogs. Her response to people has been quietly friendly, until she gets to know them - after which she becomes more rowdy. Her response to dogs has been that she's interested, but doesn't want to engage.
Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 10 years or older

Scrappy waiting at the Marin Humane Society

Scrappy
2-year-old
Neutered Male, 48lbs
Border Collie Mix

Scrappy comes to us as an owner surrender. He is a sweet, sensitive, young dog who loves people. However, he is much more relaxed when he has the company of another canine he likes. Because he is so people focused he seems to have some separation issues. He loves a good game of fetch which is a great way to wear him out. Although Scrappy has not had much formal training he knows sit, down, shake and stay. Scrappy is a sweet dog who is looking for a good forever home. If you have the right situation and are willing to help him overcome his anxiety of being alone, take him out and get to know him, you are sure to fall in love.
Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 10 years or older

Russell at the SFSPCA

San Francisco SPCA
Russell (A08584762):  I am a 1.5 year old cattledog mix.  My life has been crazy lately, and I am looking for a quiet home with a patient adopter where I can settle in and feel comfortable.  First, I was hit by a car and had to have a leg amputated.  I’m still adjusting to having only 3 legs, but I’m getting pretty good at my hop-walk!  Next, I moved from a rural area to the big city.  Lots of these new sights and sounds are pretty scary, so it’s taking some time for me to adjust.  My ideal family would take me to positive, reward-based training classes to build my confidence and continue socializing me to the world around me.

Linus at the SFSPCA

Linus (A08880578):  I am a 2 year old silky terrier mix.  I showed up at a shelter in Bakersfield very matted and covered in foxtails.  Some nice people shaved me down to make me much more comfortable!  My haircut might look a bit funny now, but my silky hair will soon grow back.  I’m just learning how to walk on a leash, but I do enjoy my walks.  I absolutely love snuggling, so if you’re looking for a couch buddy, I might just be the one for you!
