JetBlue, currently headquartered in Queen's, New York, has narrowed down possible locations for its new corporate offices once their lease on the current location is up in 2012. Orlando and New York City are the two finalists in their search.
Although a decision won't come most likely until early next year in 2010, JetBlue says that Orlando offers a very impressive alternative to staying in New York City where it's primary flight base is centered at JFK Airport.
JetBlue currently has facilities here in Orlando including a maintenance hangar and JetBlue University where all company training is performed. It was here in Orlando that JetBlue unveiled their new tail design featuring multi-shades of blue circles or bubbles.
Orlando offers JetBlue the opportunity for greater cost savings as the airline continues to search for ways to save money in difficult financial times. The employees of JetBlue will also benefit from the zero state income tax and a less expensive cost-of-living. These and other factors are all being considered as the leaders of JetBlue work towards a decision.
If the JetBlue headquarters is moved to Orlando it would be an increase of about mostly managerial jobs for the area. JetBlue would also be the second low-cost airline to call Orlando home joining the ranks with AirTran Airways located by the airport.
