It seems that Obamacare proponents celebrated victory too soon. In a rarely seen example of common sense in government, the health care bil died in the Senate.
It is now important that opponents of socialism do not fall into the same trap. "It is not so important who starts the game but who finishes it." ~ John Wooden
This bill, no doubt, will see another resurrection, likely without a so called "public option", which is legislative speak for shutting down private health insurance. Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME) has proposed making the "public option" a fallback plan which would take effect if healthcare costs do not drop sufficiently.
Any language of a "public option" whether as a primary or secondary reform, would be equivalent to opening Pandora's Box. The proponents of this option would have no problem skewing the numbers and would likely lead to it's enactment within the first two years of passage.
Opponents need to focus on the war and not so much on the battle won. Like the old adage says, "you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube", this bill, if passed, could never be entirely repealed. Once the health insurance companies go under, there will be no other option to exercise. This would place all citizens under the thumb of the government for health care, which would place another check mark on the socialists' agenda.
