Orlando - Less than 24 hours after the tragic events at Fort Hood Texas, Orlando Police and the Orange County Sheriff Department are looking for 40 year old Jason Rodriguez, a suspect in an office shooting, according to police Spokeswoman Sgt. Barbara Jones.
The shootings have taken place at Reynolds, Smith and Hills, Inc, a consulting firm, where Rodriguez was a former employee. The firm is located inside the Gateway Center 1000 Legion Place. Sgt. Jones further advised that there are 6 shooting victims but would not release their conditions, but 4 victims are reported alive in the level one trauma center at Orlando Regional Medical Center, one victim confirmed dead.
The building is also said to contain a Veteran's Administration Office.
Family members of those employed at Smith and Reynolds are being asked to report to College Park Baptist Church at 1914 Edgewater Dr. in Orlando. Edgewater High School nearby had been placed on lock-down, which has since been lifted. A large section of Interstate 4 was also shut down due to police action.
The suspect was positively identified by a current employee and was reported to own a Silver 2002 Nissan SUV Florida License Plate: S11-9UX.
Orlando PD SWAT team had been deployed to Halbrook apartment complex, where Rodriguez was reported to be inside. Neighbors reported hearing a single gunshot inside Rodriguez's apartment, where he lived with his mother.
Orlando PD Chief Val Demings confirmed reports that Rodriguez has surrendered to Orlando PD SWAT.
