This week's Henrico County, Chesterfield County and Richmond City H1N1 Vaccination clinics

For those who are not in a high risk category, the health departments want to remind you to call your personal physician about getting vaccinated.

Henrico County

This clinic is by reservation only; call 804-501-4151.  Henrico County Health District is holding a H1N1 vaccination clinic at the Richmond International Raceway on Thursday, November 12, from 2:30pm to 7:30pm.  This week's clinic is for infants older than 6 months, preschoolers and school age children.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.  People in the high risk groups are also welcome.  Additional vaccines have been made available at 1:00pm and 1:30pm to vaccinate only children under age 4,  

Henrico County's H1N1 vaccines are always available to pregnant women by appointment only, but the supply is very limited.  Call 804-501-4151 to schedule an appointment.


 

Chesterfield County

The Chesterfield Health District is holding an H1N1 vaccination clinic on Thursday, November 12, from 3pm until 7pm at the Chesterfield Fairgrounds.  This clinic will be vaccinating those in the CDC's priority groups including children and adults aged 6 months to 24 years; pregnant women; adults aged 25-64 years with certain medical conditions, individuals who live with or care for infants less than 6 months old; health care workers and emergency medical services providers.

This clinic has mainly nasal mist vaccines with a very limited supply of injectable vaccines.  The nasal mist has been deemed safe for healthy people between the ages of 2 and 49 years old, and those who are not pregnant.  The nasal spray vaccine is not recommended for people with severe egg allergy, anyone with a weakened immune system, persons with chronic health problems such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, and kidney or liver disease.  Please consult with your physician about your eligibility.

Richmond City

The Richmond City Health District is conducting a special clinic at the Richmond Public Healt Clinic on Wednesday, November, 11 from 9am until 4pm.  They will be administering only the H1N1 nasal mist vaccine.  The nasal mist has been deemed safe for healthy people between the ages of 2 and 49 years old, and those who are not pregnant. 

 They will vaccinate any healthy person from age 2 to age 49.  They recommend that people ages 25 to 49 who live with or care for infants less than 6 months old receive the vaccine.  Healthcare workers and emergency services personnel are also encouraged to get the vaccine.

The nasal spray vaccine is not recommended for people with severe egg allergy, anyone with a weakened immune system, persons with chronic health problems such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, and kidney or liver disease.  Please consult with your physician about your eligibility.
